It’s the first time that I try this and the last. There were hard bones and a lot of skin. Apparently it’s normal because in the description online it says ”including skin and tender bones”. I didn’t really enjoy chewing the bones so I had to clean all the bones and skin to eat it …

I love this! The soft bones are part of the joy of canned salmon. So much calcium, and delicious and a great texture.

What is the can lined with? I was concerned to see it flaking off when I opened the can, and wondered if it was ok to eat? Please reply so I can enjoy the rest of the cans I bought. This is my second request.

Hi there. I purchased the 4 can pack at a Costco location and upon opening one of the cans, there was something that looked like black eggs inside. I do have photos. I threw out the entire 4 pack because I was really turned off. Wondering what it was and if there is any way to compensate for the product. Kind regards, Kristy

To all y’all who complained about the bones and skin… c’mon, they are SO healthy and delicious!! Mix it up with some Mayo, onion, salt and pepper and mmmm mmmm! This stuff is bomb. I’d be a great cat because I’m all about this canned fish. 100% YUM.

I love this stuff! And thank you Costco for beating everyone else price on it. As long as it is actually “wild caught” and that doesn’t just mean caught as a young “parr” and then raised in a farm, then I can’t think of a better food to stock up on. I personally enjoy the little bit of bone and skin but to each there own. I have definitely written negative reviews on things that I find “scammy” but try and remind myself to write good ones to. So far my internet search on this stuff hasn’t turned up anything that makes me think it isn’t truly wild caught so I hope that’s true! I recently bought $800 of it as it says “Best Before” 2025.

    1. Hi there! It might actually be struvite, not glass! It’s a naturally occurring hard mineral salt that is found in virtually all canned seafood. On rare occasions, it can form into crystals that look like glass. While unexpected in canned fish, these crystals represent no hazard to your health, and actually contain minerals that are important for proper nutrition.

To determine if it’s Struvite or not, place it in some vinegar and let it sit for a few hours or overnight. If it’s salt, it will dissolve in the vinegar. Glass will remain intact.

Why is the flesh a pale colour? Sockeye salmon is supposed to be red.

    1. Hi Denise,

Thank you for taking the time to inform us of the unsatisfactory colour in a can of our Wild Sockeye Salmon. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience and confusion this may have caused. The sockeye species varies in colour due to a variety of reasons like genetics, the area the fish was caught, and the food the fish consumes in the ocean.

Great product…healthy, natural, and delicious! Would suggest that the people complaining about the skin and the bones take a long hard look at themselves, lol. One question, the weight listed on the can is 213g, is that the weight of just the fish or does that include the water that it’s packed in?
    regards,
    sam

Hello, I love this product but I’ve recently realized the can doesn’t say BPA free. Can you let me know if the can is lined with BPA? If it is I will need to switch to another brand. 🙁

Would have been 5 but it did seem to have quite a bit of skin in the can. Good flavour, good colour, decent price
